A vice president with NETZEL GRIGSBY ASSOCIATES, INC., Douglas J. Corbin has over 12 years of professional experience in planned giving for non-profit organizations and institutions. Previously, Doug served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Estate and Gift Planning at Pepperdine University. In this position, Doug created the Pepperdine Estate Planning Network, a professional organization that has been directly involved in generating over $14 million of planned gifts to the university since 1998.
Prior to joining Pepperdine University in 1996, Doug served as the Director of Planned Gift Development for United Western Medical Centers (1993–1996) where he co-founded the Estate Design Center at WestMed, a comprehensive estate and charitable tax planning resource for donors, professional advisors and their clients.
A licensed life underwriter since 1985, Doug joined the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company where he served as a Senior Account Executive providing executive benefit planning to some of the nation’s largest legal and accounting firms including Latham & Watkins, Arnold & Porter and Grant Thornton.
Doug graduated from Pepperdine University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. In 1995, he earned a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG) designation from the American Institute for Philanthropic Studies at California State University at Long Beach, and in 1999 he obtained his NASD Series 6 and 63 securities licenses. He is currently in the process of obtaining his Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) designation from the American College located in Bryn Mawr, PA.
Mr. Corbin is an active member of the National Committee on Planned Giving and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Planned Giving Round Table of Southern California. Doug is also the board president of Ryan’s Reach—The Ryan Corbin Foundation for Brain Injury; an active donor to Mercy Corps International, a world relief organization based in Seattle, Washington; and a supporter of The Pepperdine Associates, the university’s student scholarship support group. |
