Barbara was the first and the only executive director of the Cuesta College Foundation in San Luis Obispo, California, for 18 years. Under her direct professional leadership, the Foundation became one of the premier community college foundations in the state. From her role as executive director, Barbara has extensive experience in strategic planning, organizational development, community relations, annual giving, and major gifts programs. At the Cuesta College Foundation she built an excellent endowment program and has extensive experience in counseling donors wishing to make planned gifts. Her experience includes creating and nurturing one of San Luis Obispo County’s strongest volunteer boards. Under her direction, Cuesta College’s successful capital campaign increased philanthropy at the college by improving annual and planned giving and served as a landmark in California Community Colleges.

Barbara’s career also includes service as a teacher, counselor, city director of parks and recreation, and a college administrator. She has served on accreditation teams for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Additionally, her volunteer leadership includes experience on the board of directors of 15 local and state organizations, including South Bay Advocates for Youth and the Network of California Community College Foundations.

Barbara’s bachelor in science degree is from Oklahoma State University, her doctorate in education is from the University of Southern California.
